Nearly two months after suffering a horrifying spinal injury during a game against the Bengals, Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier has finally been released from the hospital.

On Thursday, Shazier posted an image on Instagram of himself being propped up by quarterback Ben Roethlisberger at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.

“I want everyone to know that all of the support and prayers are absolutely being answered,” he wrote in the caption, in which he thanked God, his family, his trainer, his doctors and his teammates. “I will continue to work hard and push and find a way back. #Shalieve#Steelers #prayfor50

According to ESPN, Shazier will transition to outpatient care, meaning he can live at hime while still receiving treatment at the medical center. On December 17, the linebacker ventured to Heinz Field to watch the Steelers take on the Patriots, waving a Terrible Towel to a raucous ovation from Steelers fans.

Leaving the hospital is obviously a huge step for Shazier, who didn’t regain feeling in his legs until a month after the injury. The fact it took so long to get to this point underscores just how devastating the injury was.

Hopefully Shazier keeps receiving good news as he continues to recover.
