Heading into the 2023 NFL Draft, there was a lot of chatter among league circles suggesting that this draft class was not very strong, particularly at the top of the draft. But it sounds like even despite that, the New England Patriots are happy with the players they were able to land.
This week, New England Patriots team owner Robert Kraft revealed that he thinks the team had “a great, great draft.”
“At the end of draft day, Jonathan and I were chatting, and I said, ‘This was a great, great draft. I’m really optimistic about the team.’ And he said, ‘You say that every year!’ But I really believe it. We were able to get the top seven picks that we had identified before the draft. I think it gives us a good balance of what our needs are. I think our free agent pickups and getting Bill O’Brien in will make a big difference,” Kraft said according to ESPN.
The Patriots ultimately selected 12 players in the draft highlighted by cornerback Christian Gonzalez who the team selected in the first round. It will certainly be interesting to see what sort of impact this class makes on the Patriots and how soon the players are able to see the field.
