There aren’t many more football players beloved by the fans than former tight end Rob Gronkowski, who along with NFL legend Tom Brady won Super Bowls with both the New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Gronk has since transitioned to a media career where he covers the sport he used to dominate on Sundays. With one of the most fun-loving personalities in NFL history, it’s not hard to see why fans were so happy when rumors began circulating that the legend was eyeing a return to the league.
The rumors were quickly dismissed as false, and now Gronk has decided to speak on them himself.
“Crazy bro. They must know something about me that I don’t. I wish I still had those powers, because that would be cool if I did. But I was just in Australia for a few days. Now it’s time to relax a little. No football,” Gronkowski said to CBS Sports’ Jordan Schultz.
Fans reacted to the confirmation that Gronk wasn’t eyeing a comeback on social media.
“I can’t believe so many people thought this was true,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“Reminds me of the Schefter misfire of announcing Brady’s retirement. We see and hear these rumors all off season long,” another fan added.
“He was never coming back to play football in the NFL lol. Everyone who watches football knew that Tampa Bay was his last ride and it was only due to Tom asking him to come back,” one fan added.
Hopefully, Gronk will continue to enjoy his well-earned rest.
