In case you have been living under a rock for the past couple weeks, Tom Brady announced his retirement from the NFL. After 22 years and seven championships, the 44-year-old hanged up his cleats and is ready to take on different challenges and be with his family.

Even though Brady is 44 and most other NFL players retire years before that, Brady is still relatively healthy and is playing at a level where he could keep going and not embarrass himself. That has led many to wonder if Brady is really done with playing football and one person is a close friend and teammate.

Talking to USA Today, Rob Gronkowski revealed that he thinks Brady can play until he’s 50 and that he will come back in a couple years.

“The guy can play at any age,’’ Gronkowski said. “If he’s 50 years old he can still come back. I think he’s going to come back but in a couple of years. The guy’s a beast. He can play anytime.’’

If anyone can play until they’re 50, it’s Tom Brady. It’s entirely possible that after being away from the game for a couple years, Brady might be mentally and physically refreshed and he’ll come back for some unfinished business. It’s also entirely possible that retirement could reinforce Brady’s initial decision that walking away was for the best and he’ll remain retired.

As someone who’s retired and come back and is close to Brady, Gronk would have a better point of view than anybody but the only person who knows whether or not he’ll actually come back is Brady himself. And even at this very moment, it’s possible he doesn’t know for sure.
