While the Bill Belichick era looks to be ending in New England, his former tight end believes he doesn’t want to go anywhere despite all the chatter.

“I know that coach Belichick definitely wants to stay with the New England Patriots,” Rob Gronkowski said on Today. “He’s a Patriot for life. He’s a six-time Super Bowl champion. He’s like grandfather claused-in. I would say it’s all up to Mr. Kraft on what direction he wants to go with the New England Patriots.”

Belichick is coming off the worst record of his career, finishing with a 4-13 record. While we don’t know what his future entails with the Patriots, we should know more soon. He’s reportedly planning to meet with the team’s owners, Robert and Jonathan Kraft, this week.

Gronk doesn’t believe his time in Foxboro is over.

“In the end, when it really comes down to it, I think he’s going to keep coach Bill Belichick as the head coach for at least another year… He’s going to bounce back,” Gronkowski added. “He’s still an unbelievable coach. He knows how to use his talent when they’re out there out on the field. They have to go out there this offseason and bring some offensive players in, and then he’ll be just fine.”

Should things not work out with the team, other organizations apparently want to meet with him. The Washington Commanders and Las Vegas Raiders are two of them. The others would be dependent upon the playoff outlook, of course.

Belichick, who also serves as the Patriots’ general manager, said his future plans could include giving up those front-office controls.
