Since Sunday’s brutal loss to the New England Patriots, New York Jets quarterback Zach Wilson has faced plenty of criticism after he failed to take ownership of an absolutely terrible performance and could even be at risk of losing his starting job. And former All-Pro cornerback Richard Sherman joined the conversation on Twitter.
On Sunday, Richard Sherman absolutely blasted Wilson’s performance and his shocking response, saying “Wow. 9 completions the entire game and 10 punts. You have let Defense down.”
It was seemingly a fair criticism of Wilsons poor showing, but NFL analyst Daniel Jeremiah came to Wilson’s defense after the game.
“A couple things can be true- 1) Zach Wilson didn’t play well (ok first half, terrible 2nd half) 2) He had zero run game & played against a really good defense in less than ideal weather. 3) NE offense had a run game & produced same point total 4) dumb answer in postgame,” Jeremiah said
Sherman, however, was not having it.
“I understand finding positives,” Sherman replied. “But this terrible play has been the case for weeks. Mac Jones played under exact same conditions 23-27 for 246yds. Hes not good enough for the NFL and the sooner the Jets realize that the better off the rest of this team will be.”
It’s certainly some strong words from the former All-Pro.
