Reggie Bush is making sure Joe McKnight is with him on the field on Sunday, honoring his fallen USC alumni with custom painted cleats.

McKnight, who was the starting running back at USC after Reggie Bush’s NFL departure, was killed in an apparent road rage incident this week. McKnight died from a gunshot injury after being shot in a New Orleans suburb. Bush went to Twitter to share custom painted cleats honoring McKnight, which the Buffalo Bills running back said he was going to wear during the team’s matchup against the Oakland Raiders Sunday.

As Twitter users pointed out, McKnight was born in 1988, not 1983. Bush said he’d fix the mistake so the cleats represent the correct date.

The mistake is easily fixable. The cleats are a nice tribute to a fallen friend and former USC alum. And, as a bonus, the NFL is running it’s “Cleats For a Cause” week, so Bush won’t be fined for honoring McKnight. The cleats look incredible and the gesture by Bush is classy. McKnight will be on an NFL field once again in a classy respect to a life tragically cut short.
