There are certain rites of passage when it comes to rookies in professional sports. Sometimes you’re made to sing your alma mater during camp. Other times you might have to dress up in silly costumes. Then there’s the astronomically high rookie dinners that you have the honor of footing.
Baltimore Ravens rookie Carl Davis tweeted out a picture of one of those rookie dinner tabs that could feed a family of four for a couple of years.
Just how much was the dinner? Try $11,561.62. That’s more money than most of us will ever see in one place at one time in our entire lives. Davis has an annual salary over $700,000 as a 3rd round pick, but for his sake I hope someone split the check with him.

In case you’re wondering, that massive bill isn’t anywhere close to the biggest rookie tab we’ve seen made public. Dez Bryant once had to pick up a tab over $50,000 during his rookie year.
I’d love to see the entirety of Davis’ bill just to see what it takes to arrive at an $11,000 plus dinner. $700 just for alcohol taxes? Almost $2,000 for a gratuity? That’s some serious splurging taking place… especially by the guy that ordered the $6.00 shoestring fries. That’s just gratuitous.
