There are certainly a ton of questions offensively for the Baltimore Ravens and star quarterback Lamar Jackson. However, Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta discussed another position, publicly blasting the team’s wide receivers’ room and receiving a ton of criticism for this from starting wide receiver Rashod Bateman.

DeCosta was asked about the organization having issues with drafting at the wide receiver position. He got brutally honest, saying that they haven’t been able to draft a truly elite receiver.

“There have been some guys that have been successful players for us that were draft picks,” said DeCosta via Ravens beat reporter Sarah Ellison. “We’ve never really hit on that All-Pro type of guy, which is disappointing, but it’s not for a lack of effort.”

Starting wide receiver Rashod Bateman took notice of this subtle jab from DeCosta and proceeded to absolutely blast him on Twitter.

“How bout you play to your players’ strength and stop pointing the finger at us and #8,” said Bateman on Twitter referring to Lamar Jackson. “Blame the one you let do this… We take heat 24/7. Keep us healthy, care about us, and see what happens… Ain’t no promises tho… Tired of y’all lying on players for no reason.”

Many took notice of this drama between Bateman and DeCosta and offered their opinion on social media.

It’s certainly understandable for Bateman to be upset about DeCosta essentially publically bashing him and his fellow wide receivers. If you’re DeCosta, it undoubtedly looks bad to be blasting the active receivers on the team with this comment.

Things like this may be why Lamar Jackson has been so unwilling to commit to the franchise long-term with a contract extension.
