The standoff continues between the Las Vegas Raiders and star Josh Jacobs, and while no one knows how, or when, it will end, a report Wednesday said the situation will not end with a trade.
NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported that the Raiders have no interest in trading the All-Pro running back, and they are not allowing him to pursue a possible deal.
This comes on the heels of a report Monday that Jacobs would report to camp before the regular season begins, although his status for Week 1 would be unclear, given his lack of practice time.
Jacobs, 25, did not report to training camp after he and the team did not reach agreement on a contract extension. The NFL’s leading rusher in 2022, Jacobs has yet to sign the Raiders’ franchise tag offer ($10.1 million) for this season.
The consensus remains that Jacobs will report to the Raiders just before the start of the regular season.
NFL fans checking in on social media generally agreed that Jacobs deserves a new deal.
There is not a chance that Jacobs get traded. It’s sad that he had an explosive season and “no deal is imminent”. I understand the landscape of the RB market, I just don’t agree with it. Their lifespan is short in the NFL especially if they’re a bellcow RB.
