Longtime New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick has been the undisputed figurehead of the team for quite some time. However, former Patriots star Rob Gronkowski recently questioned whether Belichick is “losing control” of the team.

Gronkowski and Belichick have a long history together in New England, as Gronkowski played under him for nine seasons.

Lately, Belichick and the Patriots have failed to realize much of the success that the organization had when Gronkowski was in town. And now Gronkowski is questioning whether his former coach has lost control of the team due to a “hold-in” by star pass rusher Matthew Judon.

Judon has reported to training camp, but has rarely participated during training camp since it opened last week.

Gronkowski spoke about this situation during an appearance on The Dan and Ninko Show on Tuesday, saying it is “one of the weirdest things” he has ever seen.

“Matthew Judon holding out and not participating in drills at training camp is one of the weirdest things I’ve ever heard,” said Gronkowski. “That is silly, just go and hold out.”

Gronkowski equally blamed Belichick for allowing him to show up without participating.

“Bill always says ‘You’re either all in or all out’. That’s why I said just go home then if you are gonna hold out. That’s why it’s weird. Is he losing control or something? I don’t know.”

It certainly doesn’t seem like a typical Bill Belichick move to allow a player to show up at training camp and not participate, so maybe Gronkowski is on to something…
