As videos of Patrick Mahomes chugging beers and drunkenly handing off the Lombardi trophy during the Kansas City Chiefs‘ Super Bowl victory parade made the rounds, there’s a familiar sense of Deja Vu.
That’s because Tom Brady — who Mahomes has often been compared to recently — was seen doing similar things after the Tampa Bay Buccaneers won Super Bowl LV. Not only was Brady seen partying hard at the Buccaneers’ Super Bowl victory boat parade, but he had his own incident with the Lombardi trophy.
Rather than handing it off to an unsuspecting fan, Brady tossed the trophy to then-teammate Cameron Brate, who was in another boat during the parade. The future Hall-of-Famer also had to be propped up by backup quarterback, Ryan Griffin.
While Mahomes has received some mixed reviews on social media for his antics, he certainly seemed to earn Brady’s seal of approval. The former Buccaneers quarterback took to Twitter to say that Mahomes’ behavior at the parade was more than appropriate.
All things considered, Patrick Mahomes may have been a little bit tamer than Tom Brady on the surface. While he did manage to just give away his second Super Bowl trophy to an unruly crowd, at least he didn’t need any help standing up.
