It sounds like Kansas City Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes already has quite a retirement plan when he ultimately decides to call it quits on his playing career.

Patrick Mahomes already has ownership stakes in several sports teams, owning a share of the Kansas City Royals in the MLB, the Sporting Kansas City of the MLS, the Kansas City Current of the NWSL, and most recently the Alpine Formula 1 team. But during a recent press conference, Mahomes made it clear that he has one ultimate goal: to own an NFL team.

“If I can get there, then I might settle down,” Mahomes said in his press conference according to Pro Football Talk. “But they make it pretty tough to get to that spot.”

Though it isn’t easy to become an owner in the league – even a minority owner – Mahomes points out that Tom Brady is attempting to do it with the Las Vegas Raiders.

“I think Tom [Brady is] trying to do that right now,” Mahomes said. “But that’s definitely where you want to get to because I love this sport and want to give back in any way possible when I’m done playing.

“Obviously, I’ll be a Chiefs fan. But at the same time, I want to have that competitive edge like I’ve always had my entire life.”

It’s a pretty bold plan for Mahomes, and the NFL world had a lot to say about it on social media.

It’s a lofty goal. We’ll have to see if Mahomes ever accomplishes it.
