Throughout his career with the Kansas City Chiefs, Patrick Mahomes has rarely been an underdog since he became a full-time starter in the league. But when he is an underdog, he has been extraordinarily successful not just against the spread, but straight up.

Patrick Mahomes has been an underdog in the NFL just 11 times since he became a starter for the Kansas City Chiefs. In those games, the Chiefs are a staggering 9-1-1 against the spread and an even more impressive 8-3 straight up.

Mahomes will be an underdog for just the 12th time in his career on Sunday as the Chiefs enter the AFC Championship matchup against the Baltimore Ravens as 4.5-point underdogs. But as David Purdum of ESPN points out, that could be a bad omen for the Baltimore Ravens.

“The last time the Chiefs were as big as a 4.5-point underdog was the third start of Mahomes’ career — Week 3 of the 2018 season against the Pittsburgh Steelers,” Purdum wrote for ESPN on Sunday morning.

Obviously, it’s pretty insane news that Mahomes has been this dominant in games in which his team is not favored to win, and the NFL world had a lot to say about this dominance on social media.

We’ll have to see if Mahomes can keep this absurd streak up.
