The Kansas City Chiefs receiving corps will look a little different next season after the departures of JuJu Smith-Schuster and Mecole Hardman during the offseason, but it sounds like star quarterback Patrick Mahomes has already found a new target that he’s excited about.

During a press conference this week, Patrick Mahomes praised second-year wide receiver Justyn Ross, revealing that he worked with him during the offseason and that the former Clemson wide receiver “works his tail off.”

“Yeah, I mean, the talent is through the roof,” Mahomes said according to Charles Goldman of USAToday.com. “I think anyone can see that. He’s getting better and better. Even though he wasn’t active all year he was in the building and he was able to see the guys and how we do things. Listening and being in the meetings and some of the stuff like that. I’m excited for him, man. To be able to get out there and get the reps in practice, get the little fine details that we like to do in this offense.”

Ross was expected to be a high-round pick early in his Clemson Tigers career, but after dealing with spinal issues at Clemson he ultimately went undrafted in the 2022 NFL Draft. But it sounds like Mahomes has high hopes for him this season.
