Wide receiver Odell Beckham recently signed with the Baltimore Ravens.
Prior to that, Beckham missed the 2022 season while rehabilitating a knee injury that occurred in his Super Bowl win with the Rams in February of that year.
Speaking at his introductory press conference in Baltimore, Beckham revealed that he played the entire half-season with the Rams, after being dealt from the Cleveland Browns, without an ACL.
“That whole season I was playing without it,” Beckham said. “It was a crazy thing. I signed with the L.A. Rams, and I remember ElAttrache (Dr. Neal ElAttrache, team physician for the Rams) comes down there and he’s like, ‘I’ve just got to inform you that you don’t have an ACL. You know, we can redo your surgery right now.’ And this was Week 9 of the season.
“And I just told him, I was like, ‘I’ve been through way too much to come here and sign. There was way too much talk on my name. You know, the past year, like I came here to win a championship.’ And I told him I’d die on the sword.”
Talk about a gamble that paid off! Rams fans will certainly thank Beckham Jr. for his courage.
The Ravens signed Beckham to a one-year deal for $15 million that includes $3 million in incentives.
