Jacksonville’s long national nightmare is over.

After former Jags kicker Josh Lambo revealed that head coach Urban Meyer kicked him before an August preseason warmup, ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter reported that Meyer has been fired as Jaguars head coach. Darrell Bevell will be named interim head coach for the rest of the season.

Schefter included a statement from Jaguars owner Shad Khan which indicated that after “many weeks and a thorough analysis” he “informed” Meyer of the change.

So this ends a rather embarrassing tenure for Meyer but I wouldn’t worry about him. He still has his defenders who will give him his 20th chance so he’ll probably be somewhere else soon enough.

Social media went off on Meyer’s firing.
