The Buffalo Bills have one of the most explosive offenses in the NFL at the moment, and it’s looking to add one of the league’s most explosive players in Carolina Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey, according to Buffalo 13WHAM reporter Dan Fetes:
“A source has confirmed to me that the Bills have reached out to the Panthers about running back Christian McCaffrey,” Dan Fetes reported.
Jason La Canfora of CBS broke down the salary implications of such a move:
“The Panthers will have to eat salary to move guys like CMC and Robbie Anderson and the expectation around the industry, as reported previously in [the Washington Post], is that they will be very willing to do just that,” Canfora tweeted.
McCaffrey carried the ball 14 times for 54 yards and a touchdown in a 37-15 loss to the San Francisco 49ers last Sunday. He added seven receptions for 50 yards through the air.
Though the Buffalo Bills officially denied the move, the Bills had reportedly inquired about McCaffrey as early as last summer.
“Bills reached out to the Panthers about Christian McCaffrey during the offseason, as well,” Joe Person tweeted.
The NFL world was quick to react to the news:
“Chills,” Robert Rimpson said.
“Also I’m going to rage quit the season of the God d**n Bills add this dude,” one fan said.
“Could the league’s most potent offense be about to become even more dangerous?” asked Neil Reynolds.
“I had a waking nightmare about this earlier today,” Patrick Allen said.
“McCaffrey on the Bills wouldn’t even be fair,” said Adam Patrick.
The Panthers are next in action Sunday on the road against the Los Angeles Rams. The Bills face the Kansas City Chiefs on the road Sunday as well.
