It’s safe to say that things have not gone quite according to plan for the New York Jets at the quarterback position after future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers suffered a season-ending ankle injury during his first drive with the team earlier this month. And this week, the team made a move that they undoubtedly will hope strengthens the position group for the remainder of the season.
According to an announcement from NFL insider Adam Schefter of ESPN, the New York Jets are signing veteran quarterback Trevor Siemian to help bolster the quarterback position.
“Jets are planning to add to their QB room: Veteran QB Trevor Siemian is signing with the Jets, pending a physical, per sources,” Schefter said in a post on X, the social media website formerly known as Twitter.
It’s a pretty big move for the team given the concerns they have at the quarterback position, and the NFL world had plenty to say about it on social media.

The Jets have remained insistent that they will be moving forward with Zach Wilson as their starting quarterback following the injury to Rodgers. It remains unclear if that plan remains unchanged after the addition of Siemian.
