The NFL is a cutthroat business, and teams will do whatever they feel they must to put themselves in the best position to win, which requires tough roster decisions that have to be made every year. As the preseason winds down, those sorts of decisions are being made as teams trim down to their final 53-man roster.
Insiders across the league are reporting on which cuts are being made, and, naturally, some releases and cuts are much more shocking than others. On Tuesday, one prominent league insider reported on a cut that’s sure to raise eyebrows across the NFL community.
“A surprise: The #Giants are cutting TE Greg Dulcich, per source. Still only 25, Dulcich led the NFL in preseason TDs and could be claimed on waivers,” NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported.
Fans reacted to the shocking roster move on social media.
“Yuck, he shoulda made the team. Had a great preseason,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“Seems like a guy the Eagles could try to claim for TE3 but I think another team with a bigger need for TE depth gets him,” one Eagle fan wrote on Twitter.
“He caught all of Darts TD it seemed. I remember his hype as a prospect and he was one dimensional but I think he can still be effective in the right system,” someone else added.
It’ll be interesting to see where Dulcich lands, as he’s sure to be a hot commodity in the league.
