Over the past few years, running backs have seen their monetary value plummet in the NFL market due to the belief that running backs wear down quickly in their careers and are easily replaceable by younger and cheaper players. But Carolina Panthers star running back Miles Sanders is not happy about that.

Miles Sanders is one of the more fortunate running backs in the league, signing a multi-year deal with the Panthers this offseason. But he’s still taking the chance to speak out on behalf of the rest of the league.

During an appearance on The Rich Eisen Show, Sanders said it’s a “big topic” and claimed that “it sucks to be a running back right now.”

“You want to franchise tag and create a certain market for running backs just because you have this way of thinking that they only last three or four years,” Sanders said according to Pro Football Talk. “I think it’s [incorrect], honestly. Almost every running back is underpaid right now. I don’t know what it’s gonna take. That’s a topic that needs to be brought up a little more because it sucks to be a running back right now, honestly.”

It will be interesting to see what happens to the running back market in the coming years.
