Micah Parsons knows he made some people mad in Philadelphia with his comments about quarterback Jalen Hurts.

Thursday, the Dallas Cowboys‘ star linebacker more or less doubled down on what he said about the Philadelphia Eagles and Hurts. But he can’t believe his words stirred up such controversy.

Really, what Parsons said wasn’t inflammatory or hurtful. In an appearance on Von Miller’s podcast The VonCast, Parsons and Miller talked about whether Hurts, or the entire team, deserved credit for the Eagles success. “Is it Hurts or the team,” Parsons asked.

“I was just having a good conversation with Von, a person I look up to, helped him on his podcast and the next thing I know it’s a s— storm,” Parsons said (via Schuyler Dixon of the Associated Press).

That ruffled some feathers in the Eagles locker room. Left tackle Jordan Mailata said he thought Parsons should spend more time worrying about the team he’s facing this week. “Micah should worry about his game this week. I don’t know who the f— they’re playing, pardon my language. … We’ve got the Chicago Bears, not the Chicago Micah Parsons.”

“I’m sure they hate me,” Parsons said.

But the defensive star stands by what he said.

“You’ve got to stand on everything you say just as a man,” Parsons said. “Obviously, they small clipped it and took one line of what was rally talked about. No pun intended or no disrespect to Hurts. I think he’s doing great this year. But you know me. I’m a defensive guy, and I said the Eagles defense is the team to watch. They have hell of a [lot of] players over there, making plays all year, from a defensive aspect, I know how offensive guys get all the credit, so I just want to stick up for the defensive guys.

The conversation was most valuable player. Is it just quarterback? . . . That’s what the conversation was about. That’s where I stand on it.”

Now that Parsons has clarified things by essentially saying he stands by what he said, the controversy should die down. But you know his words will resurface ahead of the two teams’ game in Dallas on Dec. 24.
