The Dallas Cowboys are looking to make the NFL playoffs after missing out on the postseason entirely following an injury-riddled 2025 campaign. The Cowboys are getting back their star duo of Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb, and even traded with the Pittsburgh Steelers to add the young, talented George Pickens in the mix.
Unfortunately, there’s a lot of tension hovering around the other side of the ball. Team owner and general manager Jerry Jones has been involved in a public back-and-forth through the media with star pass rusher Michah Parsons, who is looking for a contract extension that Jones seems unwilling to provide at the moment.
Now, it seems that Parsons has reached his boiling point with the situation, according to one prominent league insider.
“BREAKING: The Micah Parsons-Cowboys relationship has deteriorated to the point where the star pass rusher is considering drastic measures which could include a trade request or even a declaration that he is severing his relationship with the team, per multiple league sources familiar with the situation. The two sides remain far apart heading into the second week of training camp, and are not currently negotiating,” reported Diana Russini on Friday.
Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“1 year ago they made Dak, who is a top 10-15 QB the highest paid player/QB in the NFL which is still true till today but refusing to pay the best player on their team. Cowboys doing cowboys things,” one fan wroet on Twitter.
“Doesn’t Micah Parsons know that Jerry Jones won a Super Bowl 30 years ago and knows what he’s doing,” someone else added sarcastically.
“Jerry’s a joke. What else is he trying to prove here besides the typical stirring of controversy with the media,” one fan added.
It’ll be interesting to see if the sides can reach a deal before bridges are burned permanently.
