With Donald Trump’s win in the U.S. presidential election Tuesday night, the whole country seems to have been tipped on its side, and plenty of reactions have been spreading. Athletes like Martellus Bennett are no exception to this.

The list of those involved in sports reacting goes on and on. One of those athletes making their thoughts known is Bennett, the New England Patriots’ tight end. He did so via a letter to his young daughter that he posted on Instagram.

While there are not any direct mentions of Trump or the election, this seems like a very pointed post, and one made in direct reaction to that. There are plenty of people of color who have expressed fear and dismay over Trump’s soon-to-be presidency.

Both Martellus and his brother have quickly made themselves into one of the NFL’s most outspoken figures. And whether or not you agree with Bennett’s specific comments here, this generally seems like a quality way to respond to his daughter’s question about what’s happening in the world. It seems like many can get behind this sort of message, and some others may follow in the tight end’s footsteps.
