Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman played with Marshawn Lynch for five seasons in Seattle. But even Sherman isn’t sure whether Lynch will stay retired.

Sherman spoke to NFL.com’s Michael Robinson on Saturday while at a youth football camp. Robinson phrased the question in a simple way: Will Beast Mode remain retired?

The Seattle cornerback basically said he knew as much as we did.

“I don’t put anything past him,” Sherman said. “He’s about as predictable as a pair of dice. So I don’t try to call his plays.”

Sherman then went on to discuss his current team and the loss of its starting running back.

“It’s obviously going to be different. We got a little sample of it last year,” Sherman continued. “We had to play without him for a good portion of the season. I think we’re prepared for it in some aspects. But you never really want to be prepared for that. You would hope that he comes back. In the back of your mind, you hope he comes back and plays another year. But he doesn’t owe us anything. He’s given us everything. He’s given the game everything we asked.”

Lynch has had a flair for the dramatic throughout his time in the NFL. The running back who made the phrase “I’m only here so I won’t get fined” known around the country announced his retirement via Twitter while the Denver Broncos were winning the Super Bowl.

Whether or not Lynch decides to come back eventually is something that will be talked about throughout the offseason. As of now, the Seahawks look to be putting together a backfield post-Lynch. Thomas Rawls, who filled in during Lynch’s absence this past season, led Seattle with 5.65 yards per carry and will return for the 2016 season. The Seahawks also drafted three running backs in the 2016 NFL Draft.

But based on Sherman’s comments, Seattle would welcome the Skittle-loving Lynch back with open arms if the running back wanted to return to the NFL.
