The Los Angeles Rams are looking to make another Super Bowl run before veteran quarterback Matthew Stafford hangs up his cleats. Unfortunately, Stafford has been dealing with a back issue that his prevented him from being an active on-field participant thus far in training camp.

However, the franchise has just signed Stafford’s partner in the backfield to a massive deal that should keep him motivated to alleviate some of the load on Stafford’s shoulders, per one prominent league insider.

“Just in: Rams RB Kyren Williams reached agreement on a three-year, 33 million extension, including $23 million guaranteed. per Drew and Jason Rosenhaus,” reported ESPN’s senior NFL insider Adam Schefter on Tuesday.

Schefter then followed up with Williams’ elite production in justification for his massive payday.

“Kyren Williams accounted for 43% of the Rams’ total touches last season, the highest rate in the NFL, per ESPN research. He rushed for a career-high 1,299 yards and 14 TDs on 316 carries, while also adding 34 catches for 182 yards and two more scores in Sean McVay’s offense.”

Fans reacted to the news on social media.

“Are the rams even trying to win? Talk about overpay,” one fan wrote on Twitter.

“Nice! Well deserved! This kids about to carry an even bigger load now!” another fan added.

“Oh that makes sense, 23 mil guaranteed is nice for a running back. Should’ve held out for more though,” someone else added.

It’ll be interesting to see if the Rams and Williams have a deep playoff run in them this seaon.
