The Detroit Lions had their 2024 season completely derailed by injuries, especially on the defensive side of the ball. The Lion still managed to win their division and secure the number one overall seed in the NFC, but it ultimately proved too much to overcome, and Detroit fell to the Washington Commanders in the divisional round of the playoffs.

The Lions are hoping for a cleaner bill of health this season, but things haven’t started off ideally, with multiple key players sustaining injuries over training camp. On Thursday, head coach Dan Campbell added another name to the list, according to one prominent team insider.

“Dan Campbell says TE Sam LaPorta will ‘miss a little bit of time,’ reported The Athletic’s Colton Pouncy.

Fans reacted to the news on social media.

“Tight end is the most injury prone position in football it seems. Hopefully he sits out entire preseason,” one fan wrote on Twitter.

“I mean if he misses some camp, no big. If he’s a candidate for PUP for the first 4 weeks of the season that’s a different thing,” another fan added.

“This…in Dan Campbell speak, this feels like a lot of time,” someone else wrote.

Hopefully, LaPorta will be able to return to the field in time for the regular seaosn.
