Former All-Pro cornerback Marcus Peters was once viewed as one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL, but surprisingly remained unsigned free agency. That is, until one team decided to take a chance on him Monday.
Peters spent the 2022 season with the Baltimore Ravens, and played a big role as the team’s No. 2 cornerback aside Marlon Humphrey.
Ravens head coach John Harbaugh recently spoke about Peters and didn’t close the door on a potential return for him this coming season, saying that “you don’t close the door on good players and good people.”
Harbaugh may have wanted Peters to return, but the Las Vegas Raiders beat them to the punch, signing Peters to a one-year contract on Monday.
Peters will join a Raiders defense that is seemingly in desperate need of some help in the secondary. The Raiders allowed the fourth most passing yards in the league last season.
Given Peters’ reputation as one of the better cornerbacks in football, fans certainly took notice of this signing, offering their opinion on social media.
Goodbye, Marcus Peters.

Peters spoke about his fit on the Raiders in an Instagram post shortly after his signing became official, revealing that he grew up a fan of the Raiders living in Oakland.
“It’s the team that I watched when I grew up. It’s the team that low key believe in me that I can come in and still make a change.”
Peters may not be at the All-Pro level that he showed off in both 2016 and 2019, but he is very clearly still a player that can make an impact in the right situation.
