Early in the second quarter of Monday night’s game between the Baltimore Ravens and New Orleans Saints, Morgan Moses stripped the ball from Baltimore quarterback, Lamar Jackson. Jackson averted disaster, and recovered the fumble. He even managed to throw the ball down the field, narrowly missing DeSean Jackson. While the play didn’t result in a turnover, it was a heck of a strip from Moses. Only, there’s one problem. Like Jackson, Moses happens to play for the Ravens.
Indeed, when Moses stripped the ball from Jackson, he stripped the ball from his own quarterback.
Football fans were understandably confused about what they had just seen.

This brought back memories of a play we saw on Saturday, when Colorado State lineman Sammy Norris tackled his own quarterback.
We can only guess that this is not what Colorado State had in mind when this play was drawn up.
Solid tackle, though. pic.twitter.com/DFvZHUB0qK

How do these two plays compare with each other? It’s hard to say. On the one hand, Jackson recovered the fumble and nearly made something great out of the play. On the other hand, Norris at least didn’t create a potential turnover.
This has not been a particularly strong game for the veteran lineman. Not long after stripping the ball from his own quarterback, Moses was flagged for being illegally downfield, nullifying a 23-yard play. When the Ravens are going over the film of this game, Moses can expect his name to come up a few times.
