Quarterback Lamar Jackson is coming up on the final year of his rookie deal and has yet to come any closer to agreeing to a long-term deal with the Baltimore Ravens.
The former NFL MVP is watching what fans are saying regarding his contract situation on social media, denying an unverified claim that he turned down a $250 million fully guaranteed deal.
A fan on Twitter claimed that the Ravens will offer him a fully guaranteed deal while another user says the franchise already offered Jackson that type of money but he denied it — wanting more.
That’s when Jackson chimed in to set the record straight, having just three simple words in response to the unproven rumors.
Things got even more interesting after another Twitter user suggested that Jackson should take his talents back to his hometown team, the Miami Dolphins — featuring a photoshopped image of the All-Pro donned in a white Fins uniform.
Jackson responded to the fans’ plea, saying his favorite team growing up was the Cowboys but the Dolphins were a close second.
Other fans came to their own conclusions on what they believe will ultimately happen to the Ravens QB.
While Jackson has said on record that he hopes to get a deal squared away before Week 1, it almost seems like a fact that if he and the team will fail to come to an agreement before the end of the season — regardless of what happens on the field.
Many across the league think the biggest holdup is that Jackson doesn’t have a professional agent to help expedite the process. At this point, the franchise tag seems like the most viable option for the Ravens if things don’t get situated.
