It’s been a wild few weeks for Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens as the former MVP quarterback revealed last month that he had requested a trade from the organization earlier in the offseason. But as the situation has progressed, Baltimore Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta

DeCosta spoke to the media on Thursday as part of a press conference to announce the signing of new Ravens wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. During the press conference, DeCosta revealed that he has not spoken to Jackson since the team signed Beckham, but revealed that “there has been interaction along the way” and that Jackson is still in their long-term plans.

“Lamar is in our plans. We love Lamar. Our feelings about Lamar have not changed one bit since the end of the season. We’re hopeful still that we’ll get a long-term deal done. He’s the right player for this team to lead us to where we want to be. I think the locker room knows that. The organization knows that. I think the fanbase knows that.”

“It’s ongoing, but I can’t think of a situation where we wouldn’t think that our best team is with Lamar Jackson on the team in September,” DeCosta continued.

It’s a pretty firm statement from DeCosta, especially coming just a few weeks after Jackson made it clear he wanted a trade from the organization.
