Kari Lake, the Republican nominee for governor of Arizona, recently said in an interview with AZ-TV7 that she will cancel the Super Bowl LVII, scheduled to take place in February in Glendale if the NFL goes against her planned immigration policies that call for confronting migrants with United States military troops.
Citing fentanyl, Kari Lake said she is willing to shut down the NFL’s Super Bowl in order to implement her proposed Republican border policies which includes confronting migrants with armed troops,” PatriotTakes wrote.
Lake’s quote, in full:
“You want to tell me, that a bunch of football teams, owned by billionaires, are okay with fentanyl pouring across our border at a record level, killing young people? The No. 1 killer is fentanyl. 18-45. It’s killing a generation of people. If the NFL is okay with that, then they need to do some soul-searching. I don’t think the NFL is that stupid, I really don’t.
“[…] But, I’m not going to be taking marching orders from the NFL. I’m going to be taking marching orders from the people of Arizona.”
Lake, a longtime proponent of former president Donald Trump, is running against Democratic incumbent Katie Hobbs. The 2022 midterm elections are set for Nov. 8th. Lake leads by one percentage point in the most recent poll, well within the poll’s margin of error.
