During Sunday afternoon’s 24-17 win over the Las Vegas Raiders, Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert had a pretty impressive show of toughness, playing through a brutal finger injury on his non-throwing hand. But it does not appear that the injury will cause him to miss any time.

According to a report from league insider Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, Justin Herbert suffered an injury on his left hand that was described as “gruesome,” but he is not expected to be sidelined for long.

“#Chargers QB Justin Herbert suffered a fractured finger on his left, non-throwing hand, sources say. The finger also suffered a gruesome nail injury. Herbert somehow finished the game and with the bye, should not miss time,” Rapoport said in a tweet.

This obviously speaks to Herbert’s toughness that he was able to play through a broken finger, and it’s also good news that he won’t be missing any more time as a result of the injury.

The NFL world had a lot to say about the report on social media.

The Chargers have a bye next week before taking on the Dallas Cowboys the following week. We’ll see how Herbert’s finger looks by then.
