Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor is on a tear.
Taylor had 19 carries for 172 yards and two touchdowns, and two receptions for 28 yards in the Colts’ 45-30 win over the New York Jets on Thursday Night Football.
It’s the sixth straight single-season game that Taylor has had 100-plus scrimmage yards and a touchdown, which makes him the first player to do so since LaDainian Tomlinson did in 2006.
Taylor also became the first player this season to have two have multiple rushing touchdowns of 20-plus yards in a game, and he now has the two longest runs in the NFL this season, at 83 and 78 yards.
That 78-yard was good for a touchdown in the third quarter of Thursday night’s game.
And on that run, Taylor reached a top speed of 22.05 mph. The previous top speed? That would also be Taylor! He reached a speed of 21.83 in Week 8 against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 8 (which topped an incredible run from Derrick Henry).
That was Taylor’s second touchdown on the night. His first touchdown came on this 21-yard run in the first quarter:
Overall, the Colts ran for 260 yards and three touchdowns on 30 carries (8.7 avg) vs the Jets. The Indianapolis offense steamrolled the New York defense.
Taylor gets another tasty matchup in Week 10 when the Colts host the one-win Jacksonville Jaguars.
