The world hasn’t heard too much from Jon Gruden since he resigned as head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders following racist and homophobic emails that went public. The Raiders have since moved on and some players have even expressed relief from the new atmosphere on the sidelines. Meanwhile, there are reports that owner Mark Davis is upset with the NFL behind the scenes.

As for Gruden, we finally got a small update from him courtesy of  Andrea Kremer and HBO’s Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel. Kremer profiled Raiders owner Mark Davis on the show recently. During the latest episode of the Real Sports Podcast, she says that one of their producers cold-called Gruden.

“Maggie Burbank, who produced the story that we just did on Mark Davis, she actually called Gruden and he picked up the phone, much to I think her surprise,” Kremer said. “And he’s still in Las Vegas. . . . He says he’s letting the dust settle. He said, ‘People who know me know what I stand for for 58 years. I have a resume of 58 years.’ He said, ‘The truth will come out.’ It’s certainly cryptic.”

It’s unclear what or when, exactly, the truth will come out. And many on social media pointed out that anytime someone says “the truth will come out,” nothing usually happens.

The most logical thing to happen next is a legal battle, although it’s unclear if that will be Gruden vs. The Raiders or even Gruden and The Raiders vs. The NFL.

“Mark Davis has been severely impacted,” Kremer said. “And I’m not defending Mark Davis. I’m just pointing out a fact here. Dan Snyder continues on. The Washington Football Team continues on.”

Since some have accused Snyder of being the one to leak the emails that led to this situation, it’s entirely possible that the shifting alliances are taking shape behind the scenes. As Gruden said, the truth will come out, whatever that eventually means.
