Johnny Manziel has been indicted by a Dallas County Grand Jury on a misdemeanor assault with bodily injury charge, according to CBS DFW.

The indictment stems from when Manziel allegedly hit his ex-girlfriend, Colleen Crowley, and threatened to kill her and himself during an altercation on January 29.

A previously released affidavit shows some brutal details from the alleged assault. Crowley said that she attempted to jump out of a moving car in order to get away from Manziel, who said that he was going to “kill us both.” She said that when she did escape the car, he found where she was hiding and “grabbed me by the hair and threw me back into the car and got back in himself. He hit me with his open hand on my left ear for jumping out of the car.”

Crowley said she also told a valet that night, “Please don’t let him take me. I’m scared for my life!”

The CBS station also reported that Manziel and Crowley reached a civil settlement out of court, and he is unable to have any contact with her or go within 500 feet of her apartment, until at least 2018.

At this point, Manziel is no longer a sports story, and his football career shouldn’t be discussed alongside his legal issues. He’s now facing criminal charges for the damage he’s done.
