The Cincinnati Bengals have been in a state of limbo with running back Joe Mixon this offseason. All signs pointed to the team parting ways with their starting running back or asking him to take a pay cut, but no official decision regarding his future has been announced. But it appears a decision has been made.
This week, Cincinnati Bengals reporter Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic reported that the team will ask Mixon either to take a pay cut or leave the team.
“Joe Mixon remains ‘right now,’ as Katie Blackburn said three times when asked about him at the league meetings,” Dehner wrote on Wednesday. “His next steps involve the conclusion of the aggravated menacing case refiled against him by the Cincinnati Police Department and negotiation of a pay cut the team is expected to ask him to either accept or be let go.”
It’s a pretty big decision from the Bengals, and the NFL world had plenty to say about it on social media this week.

We’ll have to see what Mixon ultimately decides to do, but it’s quite clear that if he does return, he will not be making the same money he made last year.
