The Cleveland Browns have an open quarterback competition this offseason, with Kenny Pickett, Joe Flacco, and rookies Shedeur Sanders and Dillon Gabriel all competing for the starting role.

Now, it appears one gunslinger is emerging as the frontrunner for the job.

Browns QB Joe Flacco reportedly has the support of Myles Garrett and other veterans who want him to be the week-one starter, per (Mary Kay Cabot)

“The Browns thought Kenny Pickett could take the starting job and have an arc similar to Sam Darnold, but Flacco has proven to be the best “pure thrower” of the ball out of all the Cleveland QBs so far,” reported JPA Football.

Fans reacted to the news on social media.

“The fact they thought Kenny Pickett had a chance is all you need to know about the Browns front office. They’re certified idiots,” one fan wrote on Twitter.

“My theory is they signed Kenny Pickett to throw us all off their trail, which was to draft Dillon Gabriel in the 3rd & then Shedeur Sanders in the 5th and have Deshaun Watson mentor them while starting Joe Flacco,” someone else added.

“I’d rather just start Sheduer and see what he has this year. But I understand the vets want to give the seasoned guy a shot. See if they have one,” another fan added.

It’ll be interesting to see if Flacco can still play at a high level.
