There were many Cincinnati Bengals fans and supporters who thought the best move for the team would be to sit star quarterback Joe Burrow as he recovered from his calf injury, including star receiver Ja’Marr Chase. But the team ultimately decided to play Burrow against the Los Angeles Rams on Monday night, and he got the win. And after the game, he explained the controversial decision.

During his postgame press conference, Joe Burrow acknowledged that there was a potential risk of re-injuring his calf during Monday night’s game, but he and the team thought the risk of the Bengals falling to 0-3 on the season outweighed any risk of a potential injury.

“It was all stuff that you weigh when you’re making that decision,” Burrow said after the game according to Pro Football Talk. “There is the risk to go out there and potentially re-injure it, but there’s also the risk to not go out there and be 0-3. So, I wanted to be out there for my guys, and I was confident that I would be able to do what I needed to to get the win.”

Obviously, it worked out well for the Bengals as the team got the win and Burrow avoided another injury setback.
