What can’t Joe Burrow do?
Well, the Cincinnati Bengals quarterback became the latest NFL player to take in batting practice at a Major League Baseball ballpark. And naturally, Burrow put on a show, as the 26-year-old launched four home runs into the seats at Great American Ballpark.
According to MLB.com, Burrow and several of his Bengals teammates, made the short trip down the street for the Reds’ game against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday evening. Most of the players got to take batting practice, but it was Burrow who went viral on Wednesday for the absolute best of reasons.
This wasn’t the first time that Burrow has got to be a part of the action at Great American Ballpark. He threw out the first pitch at Reds Opening Day last season. So, not only does he have a bit of familiarity with the ballpark itself, but he also has a baseball background too.
Burrow is a great athlete, who was known for his ability on the football field and basketball court during his high school playing days in southeast Ohio. He also was a bit of a baseball player himself, according to one of his oldest and best teammates in football and basketball at Athens High School, former Ohio University tight end Adam Luehrman.
“Baseball was the big sport when we were younger. We played it the entire summer growing up.” Luehrman told the Bengals team website last year. “He stopped playing when we got to high school, but we played it every summer from the summer he moved there (second grade) until we were like 14. He was good. He could hit.”
And Burrow proved on Wednesday that he still can.
