Things are good for Jimmy Garoppolo these days.
After getting a Super Bowl ring as the New England Patriots’ backup quarterback last season, Garoppolo was traded to the San Francisco 49ers on Oct. 30. He went on to play terrific football, leading the 49ers to a 5-0 record in his five starts, after they were a 1-10 team before that. It seems inevitable that he will sign a high-dollar, long-term contract with the 49ers soon.
And Garoppolo is even getting a $51,000 bonus for the Patriots’ AFC Championship berth, as is his current 49ers teammate Cassius Marsh (played nine games with the Patriots before being released).
Our Andrew Bucholtz actually had a story on this possibility recently, and added that Garoppolo and Marsh will make much more money if the Patriots reach the Super Bowl.
Players in the conference championship will get $51,000 each, and Super Bowl winners will get $112,000, while those on the losing team in the Super Bowl will get $56,000.
So, you can be sure that Garoppolo and Marsh will be rooting hard for their former team to win two more games (and especially the AFC Championship).
