Reports came out this week that Michigan Wolverines head coach Jim Harbaugh could be interested in a return to the NFL, and more information reported on Friday could back up those rumors.
According to one Michigan recruit’s father, an NFL return for Harbaugh is something that could be peaking his interest.
Larry Clemons, the father of four-star wide receiver Darius Clemons, told Sam Webb of The Michigan Insider that Harbaugh admitted to the Clemons family that he will “entertain” conversations with NFL teams.
“He said that he’ll entertain (it),” Larry Clemons said. “He was upfront with us about that. I had Coach Harbaugh speak to my pastor. They had a good conversation. Our pastor asked him about that, and that’s just the (reply) that he gave him.”
Harbaugh has been one of the few college coaches that have shown he can cross over and have success at both levels of football. He saw some major success at the NFL level with the San Francisco 49ers, (44-19-1 with a Super Bowl appearance), so should he choose to want to come back to the NFL, there will be owners that come calling.
Michigan had an extremely successful 2021 season, sporting a 12-2 record and coming up just short of a championship appearance in their loss to Georgia in the Orange Bowl. The Wolverines appeared very outclassed on that night by the Bulldogs, so one has to wonder if Harbaugh has just grown tired of the talent disparity that exists in college football.
