The New York Jets are set to face off against the New England Patriots in Week 3. And Jets star wide receiver Garrett Wilson is certainly hoping that the Jets can end their brutal losing streak against New England that dates all the way back to 2015.
The Patriots obviously had one of the greatest dynasties in all of sports for the better part of two decades from the early 2000s to the late 2010s.
During that dominant stretch, the Patriots notoriously beat the Jets continuously. And that hasn’t changed in recent years even after star quarterback Tom Brady’s departure from the team. The Jets have lost 14 consecutive games against the Patriots, with their last win coming in Week 16 of the 2015 NFL season.
Wilson spoke about this streak on Tuesday, calling it “unacceptable” and proclaiming that it needs to change when the teams face off on Sunday.
“It’s time that things change around here,” Wilson said during an appearance on ESPN Radio. “Because 14 straight is unacceptable. “I inherited — I walked into a team that, we haven’t beaten the Patriots. I feel like that’s why they brought me here, brought me and Sauce [Gardner] here and the guys here, to make things like that change. It’s time we do what we get paid for.”
Wilson is obviously talented enough to make an impact in any game that is big enough to single-handedly win a game. However, if they want to break this brutal streak in Week 3, they will need a much better performance from third-yard quarterback Zach Wilson.
Through two games, Zach Wilson has thrown the most interceptions of any quarterback in the league, with four interceptions on the year thus far.
