Dalvin Cook signed with the New York Jets on Monday evening. Shortly after news broke that Ezekiel Elliott joined the New England Patriots, the AFC East rival Jets made a move for another multi-time Pro Bowl running back.
NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero reported the news on Monday evening.
“Four-time Pro Bowler Dalvin Cook is signing with the #Jets on a one-year deal, sources tell me and @RapSheet. Cook always wanted to land in New York. Now he teams up with former NFC North rival Aaron Rodgers, with all eyes on a Super Bowl,” Pelissero posted.
Adam Schefter later disclosed the terms of the deal, saying it was worth up to $8.6 million.
Cook joins the Jets after a stint on the market. The Minnesota Vikings dumped Cook this off-season after he spent several years with the team. So New York will be the second team that Cook has played for in his NFL career.
Prior to signing with the Jets, the Patriots and the Miami Dolphins were two teams that Cook was linked to. So everyone appeared to have the right division squared in. Just not necessarily the team, as he didn’t sign ith the Dolphins, which would have meant Cook returned home. Dalvin starred at Florida State in his college career.
Cook later made the news official with a post on social media.
A lot of people had things to say after the signing was made official.
The long back and forth is over. Dalvin Cook is officially a Jet. The team decides to add to their RB room. #Jets https://t.co/IBnkLhonXn
