The New York Jets received devasting news Monday as they found out that running back Breece Hall has suffered a torn ACL and will miss the rest of the season.
Hall suffered the injury during the Jets’ victory over the Denver Broncos on Sunday. Hall has been a bright spot for the Jets this season, rushing for 463 yards and four touchdowns. He was also averaging 5.8 yards per carry.
Naturally, the Jets are not happy about this development of such a promising rookie.
“He’s a heck of a football player,” head coach Robert Saleh said. “When you lose great football players, it’s not good.”
Saleh also announced that guard Alijah Vera-Tucker will miss the rest of the season.
Quarterback Zach Wilson said that he had no clue that Hall had been injured when it happened but praised his teammates for stepping up.
“I didn’t even know what was going on, but I’m just in the huddle like, ‘Where they at?'” Wilson said. “It’s tough because all of those guys are great players. They’re all balling. But unfortunately, it’s part of the NFL, right?”
“Guys stepped up, saw it was their opportunity and that this is where more money, more playing time, and other things come for people. That was really cool when the guys stepped up right there.”
They’ll need to keep stepping up if the Jets want to make good on their 5-2 start.
