Over the past several weeks and months, billionaire Amazon founder Jeff Bezos has been linked to the upcoming sale of the Washington Commanders franchise as a potential buyer of the team. But with it now revealed that Bezos will not be attempting to purchase the team, it looks like he might turn his attention to another team that could be up for sale in the very near future: the Seattle Seahawks.

According to a report from the Washington Post this week, Bezos is still expected to pursue ownership of an NFL team in the future and the Seattle Seahawks might be the best fit.

“Amazon carries the NFL’s package of Thursday night games. Other owners have expressed a desire for Bezos to buy a team. Even if he stays out of the bidding on the Commanders, Bezos could get that opportunity if he pursues the Seattle Seahawks. That team is expected to be sold in the coming years,” Mark Maske and Nicki Jhabvala wrote for the Washington Post on Wednesday.

Not only is it a possibility, but one source told The Washington Post that interest in purchasing the Seahawks franchise is part of the reason why Bezos will not be bidding on the Commanders franchise.

“Bezos knows that Seattle is sitting there,” a person with knowledge of the NFL’s inner workings told The Post on Wednesday.

We’ll have to see how this situation plays out in the coming years.
