The NFL world got a little bit of surprising news on Monday when it was revealed that Philadelphia Eagles star quarterback Jalen Hurts was doubtful to play in this week’s divisional showdown with the Dallas Cowboys after a shoulder sprain. But a new report suggests that Hurts’ long-term outlook is quite a bit optimistic.
According to Philadelphia sports anchor and reporter John Clark of NBC Sports, the shoulder injury Jalen Hurts sustained is “not considered serious” and he “will be ready for the playoffs.”
“I’m told there is no doubt: Jalen Hurts will be ready for the playoffs. I’m told the sprained shoulder is not considered serious. Jalen’s status for Saturday in Dallas is in doubt. Source says x-rays were negative. Nothing was broken. An MRI diagnosed a sprained right shoulder,” Clark said on Twitter.
Despite the optimistic report, Hurts is still expected to miss Saturday’s game against the Dallas Cowboys, which means that backup quarterback Gardner Minshew will likely get the start in his place.
It’s not yet clear how long Hurts will be sidelined, but the Philadelphia Eagles only need to win one of their next three games to secure the coveted first-round bye in the upcoming NFL playoffs.
