Philadelphia Eagles star Jalen Hurts has excelled on the field, earning himself a massive five-year, $255 million contract extension with the organization. He is largely set financially for the rest of his life. Regardless, that didn’t stop him from going back to school and setting up his life after football.
Hurts played for both the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Oklahoma Sooners as a grad transfer. He ended up going to the NFL before finishing his Masters program at Oklahoma, but he opted to go back and finish his schooling.
The star quarterback graduated from Oklahoma on Friday with a Masters Degree in Human Relations. George Stoia of On3 Sports captured video of Hurts receiving his degree while people in attendance clapped for him.
NFL careers can end in an instant, so it is obviously important for players to figure out a backup plan if their career goes sideways. Regardless, many took to social media to praise Hurts for sticking with his studies.
Hurts is the latest quarterback to go back to school and finish up their degree. Chicago Bears star quarterback Justin Fields similarly finished up his Bachelor’s Degree at Ohio State in consumer and family financial services earlier this month.
He will not shift his focus back to the football field as the Eagles prepare for the upcoming 2023-24 season. Philadelphia has some high expectations yet again, currently sitting as the betting favorites to make it out of the NFC.
