The Jacksonville Jaguars had a hell of a weekend during the NFL draft. Pundits have widely agreed the organization made great picks, like trading up to draft Myles Jack, that should help propel the team above its past, long term mediocre state. Our own Ty Schalter gave their draft an A+. This Jaguars fan would give them an A+++++ if she could.
In an interview with local Jacksonville TV station WJXT, an unnamed Jaguars fan gave some of the best answers in the history of television when asked about the draft.
Reporter: “They say [the Jaguars] have the best draft in the entire NFL, are you surprised to hear that?”
Fan: “Certainly not, the first year we took it to the limit. I was in Miami with my new beach house, well it was a couple minutes from the beach.”
Reporter: “It’s been 20 years since than, we haven’t been too strong in the last few years.
Fan: “Oh we’ve been strong, we’ve just been playing by the rules. You can’t have a newcomer come in and steal the show.”
I have no idea what she’s talking about towards the end, but dammit, I think she’s right. The interview is intense, bizarre, and completely intoxicating. The way she looks at the camera and delivers the last sentence is some fine dramatic acting on the level of David Caruso in CSI Miami.
Hopefully, Jacksonville can follow her words, and use the new draft picks to take the 2016 season to the limit (and maybe even beyond the limit) once again.
