Former Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Justin Blackmon was arrested at 4:45 AM on December 19th by Carter County police for driving under the influence. Blackmon is currently on indefinite suspension from the NFL for twice violating the league’s substance-abuse policy.
Justin Blackmon is still on the Jacksonville roster, which means that his DUI arrest re-sets the days without an arrest meter from 67 to 2.

It’s another sad turn for Blackmon, as the 25-year-old once looked like one of the most promising wide receivers in the game after getting drafted fifth overall in 2012. He played two seasons and 20 games with Jacksonville, amassing 93 receptions for 1,280 yards and six touchdowns. Blackmon was arrested for DUI just months after being drafted by the Jaguars and was suspended by the league.
He was arrested again in 2014 for possession of marijuana after being stopped by police at a traffic stop. He entered rehab during the 2014 NFL season in an attempt to clean up his life and possibly return to the NFL, but he was denied reinstatement in May, and clearly his attempts to get clean since have failed.
The story (if it hasn’t before) now shifts from Blackmon attempting to make an NFL comeback to getting his life together. He’s clearly dealing with some serious substance abuse issues and needs to get his life in check before he can even considering playing football again. Hopefully, he can.
